Septic tanks are an underground plumbing system that collects untreated waste. They are most commonly used in areas without connection to main sewage supplies. The solid waste sinks to the bottom of the tank and starts to disintegrate with the help of bacteria, while any liquid is absorbed into the surrounding ground. After time, Sludge builds up in the tank and needs to be emptied. If this isn’t done regularly the tank will start to smell and could overflow.
Greens Environmental are able to empty tanks in a wide range of locations which in the past has included farms and local parks. We are also able to provide this service to accommodation settings like caravan parks and rural homes, where septic tanks will need to be emptied regularly.
How often you require this service will depend on the number of people using the system but we recommend that it is done at least every 6 to 12 months.
In addition to septic tanks, we are also able to empty cesspits. These are slightly different as they simply hold the liquid and solid waste, without processing or digesting any of it. These systems need to be emptied much more often, typically every 45 days depending on usage.
To ensure that this service is carried out to the highest standard, we will use one of our specialist vehicles to assist us. Our 3,500 litre rigid waste tanker is ideal for restricted locations, where it would otherwise be difficult to access the site. We also have 15,000 rigid tankers which are better for larger applications. These vehicles are able to hold a large amount of sewage waste so that we can transport it to the nearest treatment plant.
